Before you start installing your new hardware, you'll need to verify the holes on your door are accurately drilled. If any of the measurements on this checklist don’t match your interior and exterior doors, you’ll need to adjust the door or frame to ensure that your hardware fits.
The hole’s diameter should measure 35mm, 54mm or our QuickFix preparation. Try this hack for enlarging crossbore holes from This Old House.
The distance from the edge of the door to the centre line of the crossbore should measure 60mm or 70mm for most Schlage door hardware.
The hole on the edge of the door, where the deadbolt or latch enters, should measure 25mm in diameter.
The door varies between our Schlage Series door hardware, between 30mm to 45mm thick, refer to the Schlage packaging for each product series.
The latch bore hole in the door jamb should measure at least 22mm in diameter and a minimum of a 12.7mm deep. A 22mm spade bit can be used to drill a larger hole, if necessary.
